Morning Preparations
The day begins early at A & A Heating, usually before the sun rises. I arrive at our Grass Valley headquarters at 6:30 AM, where I review the day’s service schedule and load up my truck with the necessary tools and parts.
First Call: Emergency Heating Repair
By 7:30 AM, I’m heading to my first call in Nevada City. An elderly resident woke up to a cold house, and their furnace isn’t responding. These urgent calls are always prioritized, especially during the chilly Sierra foothills winters.
Mid-Morning: Scheduled Installation
After resolving the emergency repair, I drive to Alta Sierra for a scheduled furnace replacement. This is typically a 4-5 hour job that requires:
* Removing the old system
* Preparing the installation area
* Installing the new unit
* Testing all connections
* Performing safety checks
* Training the homeowner on proper operation
Afternoon Service Calls
The afternoon usually consists of routine maintenance visits in North Auburn and surrounding areas. These preventive service calls help residents avoid unexpected breakdowns and maintain optimal heating efficiency.
End of Day
Before heading back to headquarters, I typically handle one or two more service calls in Auburn. The day ends with paperwork, restocking the truck, and preparing for tomorrow’s appointments.
Being a heating professional in Nevada County means adapting to changing weather conditions and varying customer needs, but ensuring our neighbors stay warm and comfortable makes it all worthwhile.
