Morning Begins Before Dawn
As an HVAC service technician on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, my day typically starts before the sun rises. With my service vehicle fully stocked and ready to go, I head out to tackle the day’s challenges across the Delmarva Peninsula.
First Call: Emergency Heat Check
6:30 AM – My first call takes me to Seaford, where a family woke up to a cold house. Winter mornings can be unforgiving here, and a properly functioning heating system isn’t just about comfort—it’s essential. After diagnosing the issue, I’m able to get their heat pump running efficiently again.
Mid-Morning: Scheduled Maintenance
The late morning finds me in Cambridge, performing preventative maintenance on a commercial HVAC system. These routine checks are crucial for:
• Preventing unexpected breakdowns
• Ensuring energy efficiency
• Extending system lifespan
• Maintaining indoor air quality
Afternoon: AC Preparation
After lunch, I head to St. Michaels to help a customer prepare their air conditioning system for the upcoming summer season. Living near the Chesapeake Bay means we deal with significant humidity, making properly functioning AC systems crucial for comfort.
Late Afternoon: Plumbing Emergency
My final call of the day takes me to Fenwick Island, where a customer needs urgent plumbing assistance. Working in both Maryland and Delaware means covering plenty of ground, but ensuring our customers stay comfortable makes every mile worth it.
End of Day: Planning Ahead
As the sun sets, I review tomorrow’s schedule and restock my truck. Whether it’s the historic homes in Queenstown or modern buildings in Salisbury, each day brings unique challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable year-round.
The satisfaction of solving problems and helping people maintain comfortable, efficient homes makes this career rewarding. It’s not just about repairs and maintenance—it’s about being there when our neighbors need us most.
